Une retraitée américaine a vaincu le Covid-19 en avril dernier et en a guéri une seconde fois, en novembre, après une recontamination. Une santé de fer car elle avait déjà survécu à la grippe espagnole… il y a de cela près d’un siècle.
Angelina Friedman a fêté ses 102 ans dans une maison de retraite au nord de New York. Pleine de joie de vivre, elle est passionnée de tricot et a été élue reine du bal lors d’une grande fête organisée l’année dernière pour son anniversaire
Elle est née en 1918 sur un bateau qui transportait des migrants. Après avoir vécu la pandémie de grippe espagnole, elle a été atteinte d’un cancer et d’une septicémie une fois adulte, qu’elle a vaincu. Née dans une famille de 10 enfants, elle est la dernière survivante de sa fratrie.
Si elle a perdu une partie de son audition et de sa vision, Angelina est aujourd’hui en bonne santé.
Cette année, l’Américaine a été testée positive au Covid-19 à deux reprises, et elle s’en est sortie. Sa première contamination a eu lieu en mars dernier. Fiévreuse pendant plusieurs semaines, elle est restée sept jours à l’hôpital avant d’être isolée dans sa chambre en maison de retraite.
Un mois après, elle était testée négative au virus et n’a gardé aucune séquelle.
La seconde contamination s’est produite en octobre, où Angelina a eu de la fièvre ainsi qu’une toux sèche. Le 17 novembre, elle a appris qu’elle avait une nouvelle fois vaincu la maladie, en étant testée négative.
Angelina n’est pas la personne la plus âgée à avoir survécu au coronavirus. Ce titre revient à Bill Lapschies, un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale âgé de 103 ans.
« Elle n’est pas la plus vieille à survivre au Covid mais elle est peut-être la plus âgée à y survivre deux fois », a affirmé Joanne Merola, la fille de la survivante.
